Most of the tunes in this production were written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Tom” to his friends. He is THE matchless GIANT in the world of Latin Jazz composers–a primary force in the creation of the bossa nova style. Luiz Bonfa, also an architect of the Brazilian sound, team with Jobim to compose the score for the 1958 film “Black Orpheus.” Dori Caymmi and Marcos Valle, contemporaries and friends who followed in Jobim’s and Bonfa’s footsteps by about 15 years, gave lush romantic touches of their own to the Latin Jazz sound.
